All India Law Entrance Test or AILET is an entrance test conducted by the National Law University (NLU), New Delhi. NLU conducts AILET on the first Sunday of May. AILET 2018 will be conducted on 6th May, 2018. The entrance test gives aspiring candidates entry into the National Law University (NLU).

Candidates can secure admission in BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD courses offered at NLU, based on their AILET 2018 score. Aspirants are short listed through the AILET results for admission to fill in 83 seats of BA LLB (Hons) course and 40 seats in LLM course.  There are 73 seats in B.A LLB course available for admission through AILET on merit. Ten seats are open for direct admission to Foreign Nationals also on merit, but foreign nationals are spared from giving AILET. Rest two seats are reserved for residents of Jammu and Kashmir and one seat for Kashmir migrant. There are 40(35+5) seats for Foreign Nationals for LLM course admission.

Application Form and Fee

The NLU releases Application Form for AILET at their official website. So interested candidates can visit the official website of NLU and apply for AILET exam in online mode only. The application form are made available online from the first week of January.

While applying for AILET, candidates must keep in hand their Class 10 mark sheet, class 12 mark sheet, SC/ST/PWD certificates (in applicable cases), Below poverty Line category Certificate (in applicable cases), passport size photographs of the candidate.

Application Fee for General Category candidates is Rs. 3000/-, for SC/ST/PWD category candidates is Rs. 1000/- and for Candidates below poverty line there is no provision for application fee payment.

Eligibility Criteria

The NLU lays down some eligibility criteria for candidates those who want to appear for AILET 2018. The candidates must read through the criteria carefully before applying for the AILET exam. Any candidates failing to fulfil the eligibility criteria will be barred from appearing for the examination. Below mentioned are the eligibility criteria for AILET:

For B.A LLB Honours

  • Candidates must have passed their 10+2 examination with minimum marks of 50%.
  • Candidate appearing for AILET in the year of their 10+2 examination has to meet the above criterion at the time of admission.
  • There is no age restriction for candidates applying for AILET. Candidates of any age can apply for the AILET exam.

For LLM

  • Candidates of Indian Nationals must be a B.A LLB pass or equivalents from a recognized university scoring minimum of 55% marks.
  • Indian candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories shall have score no less than 50% marks in their B.A LLB or equivalent.
  • Candidates of foreign national have a record of LLB degree or equivalent from any UGC recognized university with no less than 55% marks.

For PHD

Candidates must make sure that they fulfil any of the below mentioned criteria to be eligible for AILET 2018.

  • Candidate must have Master’s Degree in law from a recognized university and must have secured minimum of 55% marks for general candidates. Reserved category candidates, must have scored no less than 50% marks.
  • Candidate must have a law degree, Master’s Degree with M.Phil in Social Science/ Humanities from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks. Aspirants need to ensure that their research work is based on Public Policy of Law.
  • Candidates must have a degree in law and PH.D in any discipline.

Exam Pattern

NLU divides the Law Entrance Exam into five parts: English (including comprehension), General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning. Maximum marks awarded for the paper is 150.

Admit Card

Successfully registered candidates can visit the official website of NLU and download their respective admit cards. Candidates without admit card will not be allowed to appear for the exam. So candidates need to take a print out of their downloaded admit card.

Result

Candidates appearing for the AILET exam need visit the official website of NLU, New Delhi to check their result. Candidates while checking their result needs to enter their respective registration number/ roll number and password. After following the said process, candidates can check their result.
