AFCAT- Air Force Common Admission Test is an examination taken up by graduated candidates who wants to be a part of IAF. IAF conducts the test for selection of candidates into the Indian Air Force in Ground Branch, Technical Branch and Flying Branch. The Indian Air Force conducts this exam twice a year and it came into existence in the year 2011. Candidates aspiring to build their career in Indian Air Force can enter IAF through this test.

The AFCAT 2018 would consist of two parts, AFCAT paper and EKT paper (Engineering Knowledge Test). The EKT branch was added to test the engineering knowledge of the candidates belonging from engineering background.

Application Form

Application forms will be available online in the month of December 2018. Aspiring candidates can access the AFCAT application form from the official website of AFCAT, i.e. http://www.careerairforce.nic.in/. Candidates can apply for AFCAT in online mode only. The steps of filing application form are mentioned below:

  • Aspirants should visit the official website of IAF and click on the Candidates login.
  • After filling the registration process candidates should note down their registration number.
  • Candidates should provide the required details in the application form.
  • Candidates need to upload a scanned copy of their photograph and signature (10-50 KB size).

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates aspiring to appear for the AFCAT 2019 must satisfy the following eligibility criteria for different branches before applying for AFCAT.

Eligibility Criteria for Flying Branch

Educational Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline along with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level or B.Tech/B.E with 60% marks or 60% marks in section A & section B of Aeronautical Society of India or associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

Date of Birth:

Candidates’ date of birth must be between 2nd January 1995 and 1st January 1999.

Eligibility criteria for Ground Duty Technical

Educational Qualifications:

The candidates should hold a graduation degree with 60% marks along with Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level or must have completed 4 years graduation or integration post graduation in technology or engineering marks or 60% marks in section A & section B of Aeronautical Society of India or associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

Date of Birth:

Candidates’ date of birth must be between 2nd January 1993 and 1st January 1999.

Ground Duty Non Technical

Educational Qualifications:

Aspirants must hold a graduation degree in any discipline with 60% marks or 60% marks in section A & section B of Aeronautical Society of India or associate Membership of Institute Engineers (India).

Date of Birth:

Candidates’ date of birth must be between 2nd January 1993 and 1st January 1999.

Exam Pattern

Both the parts of AFCAT 2019, AFCAT and EKT will be held on the same day. The Exam pattern for both the papers is given below:

Current Affairs, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, English and Comprehension

Selection Procedure

The candidates have to go through a selection procedure before their recruitment in the Air Force.

  • An intelligence test is conducted in Stage 1. Stage 1 is a screening test and after its completion candidates can move on to Stage 2.
  • Stage 2 includes a Psychological test, Group Test and then the Interview. The examination authority organises the second stage over subsequent five days.
  • Candidates of the Flying Branch undergoes through a test conducted by the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS). The CPSS test is conducted once in the life of a candidate.

Admit Card

The Indian Air Force officially releases the Admit cards of aspiring candidates for AFCAT in its official website. Candidates can visit their official website and download their respective admit cards. Indian Air Force does not announce any tentative dates for the release of its Admit Card. Candidates can only know the date for admit card availability only after IAF releases its official notification.

Candidates appearing for the test must carry their admit cards along with a valid photo identity card such as their passport, voter ID card, college ID or Driving License on the day of their AFCAT test.

Candidates can download their admit card for AFCAT 2019 in the following process:

  • Visit the official website of IAF, http://www.careerairforce.nic.in/.
  • Click on the Candidates Login.
  • Type the respective E-mail ID and password to login.
  • Download the admit card.
  • Candidates must take a print out of their respective admit cards after downloading it.

Result

The admission authority will announce result stage by stage. The candidates clearing the first stage of exam become eligible for the next stage and so on. Candidates must keep an update on the result announcements made by the Indian Air Force examination authority.
